This song was inspired by a flood that affected Nashville, and areas surrounding it, in our home state of Tennessee. Looking out at houses barely visible above water, it was hard not to feel awe and the need to express it in some form.
lyrics
All lost, over night.
Claiming possessions and lives.
We think our empire is so strong,
but one flood and it's all gone.
Just when we're comfortable,
something shows us we're not invincible.
And that it's not as hard as it seems...
To bring mankind to it's knees.
Swallowed all the land,
forcing where you stand.
You never feel so powerless
until you're under the sand of
an hour glass.
Just when we're comfortable,
something shows us we're not invincible.
And that it's not as hard as it seems...
To bring mankind to it's knees. [x2]
Sometimes, you just don't expect it.
Nature knocks you to the ground.
We spend so much time interconnected,
we forget we're afraid to drown. [x2]
Just when we're comfortable,
something shows us we're not invincible.
And that it's not as hard as it seems...
To bring mankind to it's knees. [x2]
